Doris Bjorkman and Barbara Rubin are thrilled to co-chair the GNSO’s fabulous Cocktail Gala, which will celebrate honoree Lisa Silverstone and the original GNSO members!

Join us for the GNSO Cocktail Gala on May 1st from 5 to 8PM. You’ll enjoy a selection of light fare, cocktails, engaging conversation, and live music. This will be a fun, engaging, melodious, and unforgettable event!

More about our Honorees:

Lisa Silverstone is the Executive Director of Safe Harbors of the Hudson, a dynamic and innovative non-profit in Newburgh, NY. The organization integrates affordable, supportive housing with visual and performing arts in a unique redevelopment model that fosters downtown revitalization, economic development, and housing equity.

Ms. Silverstone joined Safe Harbors as its Associate Executive Director in January 2012 and was appointed Executive Director in July 2013. In her 12-year tenure as ED, Ms. Silverstone has overseen the expansion of the Safe Harbors campus, adding two commercial spaces, a half-acre urban park, and the development of the historic Ritz Theater to its Cornerstone Residence, Ann Street Gallery, and Lobby at the Ritz.

In 2024, Ms. Silverstone forged a partnership with affordable housing developer Bronx Pro to develop 55 units of affordable housing on a vacant property in the City of Newburgh, expanding access to affordable housing and increasing Safe Harbors’ impact on the community.  

Ms. Silverstone is a 2018 Orange County Human Rights Commission Award recipient.
